The Two Month Break.

I didn't expect to be gone for this long. I honestly never plan when I'm going to go on a break. I don't know if I mentioned it or not, but my grandma passed away towards the end of June. I do know that I shared that she wasn't doing well, but I think I stopped posting around that time. In person, I may have acted unaffected, but it definitely affected me much more than I want to get into.

I fell into a bit of a funk. I even had trouble doing simple things I normally enjoy such as reading, much less wanting to write on this blog. The only thing I had been doing in my free time is working, journaling, watching tv & movies (realize this means mainly watching Love Island).

Even though I've been away for a while, I have missed chatting with you all!

The last two months haven't been all gloom & doom, I went on vacation with my boyfriend, J, my best friend, Amanda, and her boyfriend. We spent a lil' less than a week in Cancun, Mexico. This trip could not have come at a better time. It was the first international trip J and I went on together. I was a bit nervous about how it was going to go when we first booked the trip. The closer we got to the actual date, I found myself to be void of all anxiety, and instead filled with excitement.

The trip went without a hitch! My boyfriend got along perfectly with Amanda and her boyfriend. With the exception of one situation, the trip was great. While we had some less than perfect luck when it came to some issues with the hotel and service, those things didn't ruin the trip for me.

When I came back from the trip, I was recharged, and my love for reading came back! I actually started being much more active on my bookstagram (@whatmelinareads) and it's honestly been so fun talking books with other book lovers!

Since then, instead of writing my own blog posts, I've been catching up with all my favorites (Daisybutter, Drizzle & Hurricanes, The Little Plum). I'm still going through posts, so don't mind me while I comment on all of your old blog posts.

So I'm officially back, and I'm brimming with ideas. Chat soon xxx

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma, love, sending you tons of love. I'm glad to hear that there were some bright times in the past few months despite this and your vacation seems lovely! It can be so stressful to travel for the very first time with someone, especially a big, international trip. I'm glad that all went well though and you look fantastic!!
Here's to better days and a wonderful end of the summer for you. Sending you love xx
