Fridaze 031

So this week has been a hectic and stressful one. In the midst of the terrible, there were moments of happiness and gratitude. While I don't think it's going to be a long one, I would suggest you still grab a cup of coffee or tea. Let's chat a bit this Fridaze.

Grandma is in the hospital

Last Friday, we got the news that my grandma wasn't feeling well, and an ambulance took her to the hospital. If you guys didn't know, my grandma suffers from Alzheimer's. I might have mentioned it a few years ago in one of my blog posts. It's gotten pretty bad, but no one expected it to get worse. Once she was in the hospital, we found out that the reason she wasn't feeling well is because she had stage 4 cancer, and it's spread. Everywhere.

At first, they were only allowing one person to see her at a time, but then we were able to get 2 people to see her at a time. I was able to see her on Sunday. It was hard to see her looking so small on that hospital bed. The entire time I was there, she didn't even open her eyes. I was happy that J came with me. Even though he couldn't come up, because my aunt was also in the room, it was comforting to know that he was right downstairs if I needed him.

Belated Birthday Dinner

The day after was my scheduled belated birthday dinner. I always get anxious before big events. Even though it was all of my closest friends and their significant others, I ended up having a great time. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and it was a huge success in my book. It felt so nice to be surrounded by some of the people I love the most.

Girl's Night with Erika

Monday, I went over Erika's house. It's been a while since we just caught up and hung out. She made these delicious ahi tuna bowls, and we just chatted over a glass of wine. It's always so effortless and easy with her. It was nice to see what she's been up to over the past month. Even though I saw her at my birthday dinner, we didn't really chat too much. There's always something more special about just hanging out with your close friend, one on one.

Hung out with Sofia

My sister got her wisdom teeth pulled last Friday, so we haven't been working together this past week. She baked some cookies while she was at home, and asked me to come over. I spend about 2 hours at her place, and we just chatted and caught up with one another.

It's always nice hanging out with my sister, she's one of my best friends.

J's dog passed away

Another tough thing that happened this past week, was the passing of J's dog. His dog was really old, and while he's been struggling for a little while now, it's never easy to lose a pet. He was so kind, friendly, and gentle. This entire week, has brought up really difficult memories of losing Maya (one of my dogs).

I feel very empathetic, and have tried my best to just be there for him in any way he could need me.

Grandma comes home from hospital

After spending 6 days in the hospital, she was finally sent home. There's not much the doctors can do. So now she's doing at home hospice care. There's a nurse who's passing by and checking up on her. I went to see her yesterday, and somehow she looks even worse than Sunday.

She doesn't look as comfortable, she looks even smaller, and she doesn't want to eat or drink anything. It's been tough on me and my family. My aunts are flying in throughout the weekend.

Shows/Movies I’ve Watched:

  • Bob’s Burgers Season 12 episodes 9-10 [Amazon Video]
  • Stranger Things Season 3 episodes 1-3 [Netflix]
  • The Boys Season 3 episodes 1-4 [Amazon Video]

  • Everything Everywhere All At Once [Plex]

Books I’ve Been Reading:

  • Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
  • Gods & Monsters (Serpent & Dove #3) by Shelby Mahurin
  • West Side Love Story by Priscilla Oliveras

Well, that was my Fridaze in a nutshell. It hasn't been the easiest week, but I've survived it. Here's to hoping next week is a little bit lighter and a little bit better. Sending you all love, strength, and positive vibes xx

So sorry to hear about your grandma. I hope she can feel comfortable soon enough to eat so that she can gain some strength. I'm also so sorry to hear about J's dog passing away. Sending much love and support to you and your family.

Also, happy belated birthday! I know it must be weird to celebrate your birthday at this time but I'm glad you manage to find some time to celebrate with your friends. ♥
