Hello all, and happy Friday. I’m a little behind schedule today. It’s been a really busy few days for me, so I’m currently typing this up during my work lunch break.

But tell me? How are you all? Even though we had a short work-week because of Labor Day, this week has felt extremely long. Let’s chat a bit about it.

Labor Day weekend

As I just mentioned above, this past weekend was Labor Day. While I didn’t have the busiest weekend, I did have a few plans. On Saturday, Me and J went with his family to the sculpture garden. I had never gone before, and I honestly had a really good time!

It was cool to walk around, just spend time with his family. Even though we’ve been dating for over a year and a half, I feel like I still don’t know his family. I feel like I learn something new about them every time I hang out with them!

Then on Monday, I went to my aunt’s house for her Labor Day BBQ. We brought Luca with us, and had a pretty nice time! She has a pool, which was honestly perfect, because the day was hot!

kids going back to school

After Labor Day, the kids usually go back to school. While I don’t have any kids of my own, it still affects me greatly. The traffic when the kids are going to school is horrendous. I spend all summer without nearly as much traffic, and forget how bad it is, til the school season starts up again.

I’ve been having to wake up earlier, and have been spending more time commuting now. It’s definitely one of my least favorite things about moving further from my job. I’m hoping that it eases up a bit, because this traffic has been a complete nightmare.

facials & massages

This week, I had a couples massage and facial scheduled! We haven’t gotten a massage in over a year, and it was long overdue. I had never tried this place before, but they had a Groupon, and the reviews were really good, so I decided to purchase it.

The drive was pretty close to our place, and was really easy to get to. I had so many knots on my back, so it definitely hurt a little bit! Now, I feel a bit sore on my back, but I also feel a lot less tense.

We both had a really nice time, and we decided we’re going to try to get a massage done quarterly!

long work days

The downside to having holidays on workdays is the fact that the days after our day off are so hectic. I’ve been leaving so late from work everyday, and just feel super exhausted.

Instead of spending my week reading, watching tv, or playing video games. I have been mainly going to home to cook, shower, and then lounge on the couch/bed for a bit before going to bed.

I am looking forward to having a bit more of a normal work week next week! A very big tgif feeling this week.

lil things:

  • How smooth my skin felt the night and morning after getting my facial.
  • Realizing I can fast charge at work now if I get the proper adapter.
  • Sleeping in on a Monday.
  • Delicious slow cooked meals (I’ve been making this delicious slow cooked Korean pork, and am obsessed!)
  • Feeling lazy, and realizing you have leftovers.
  • Getting a Furbo dog camera, and feeling comfort in being able to check on Luca.

Shows/Movies I’ve Watched:

  • Black Clover episodes 75-130 [Crunchyroll]
  • Football Season!

Books I’ve Been Reading (Let’s be Goodreads Friends!) (Let’s be StoryGraph Friends!) :

  • Iris Zero 7 by Takana Hotaru
  • The Emperor (Darkverse #3) by RuNyx
  • A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns & Roses #3) by Sarah J. Maas
  • Happy Place by Emily Henry
  • The Final Offer by Lauren Asher (Dreamland Billionaires #3)
  • Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak (September Thriller Book Club read with @front.porch.reads)
  • Misfit by Elle Kennedy

But that’s been my week for you. Please tell me below how you have all been? I feel like Labor Day weekend is almost a way of telling you Fall is right around the corner. That summer is officially over. As I mentioned last week, I’m a bit relieved to slow down a bit, but I also feel a little sad that the longer days are coming to an end. What do you think? As always, we’ll chat soon. Happy Fridaze xx

Sounds like another busy week, Melina!

Relaxed plans for long weekends are always the best. I get so overwhelmed when I have more than, like, two plans in one week. I feel exactly the same about back-to-school season: the traffic is just wild and certain times of the day feel overwhelmingly busy.

I feel the same exact way! It's funny though, if I don't have plans, but decide I want to do something I don't feel overwhelmed! I'm hoping the traffic dies down soon, because it adds extra stress, and increases feelings of anxiety and feeling more overwhelmed overall.

I'm so ready for autumn to get here! I live near a school and the mornings are chaotic due to traffic trying to get out of my neighborhood, I hope things settle down in a month when everyone gets into their new routine. ♥
