Rose Skin Co Lumi IPL Hair Removal: initial thoughts

So I recently bought the Rose Skin Co Lumi IPL Hair removal tool. I've been someone who's used many different types of hair removal over the years. Waxing, shaving, hair removal creams, and I've actually even used another IPL machine before!

Let's chat a bit about IPL and my experience with the Rose Skin Co Lumi IPL hair removal tool.

What is IPL?

IPL stands for intense pulsed light. It works similarly to laser hair
removal, only it’s easier and safe to do at home. IPL handsets work by emitting
wavelengths that target pigment in the hair. As the light is absorbed, it turns
to heat, which then kills hair growth cells. Hair grows back slower and
sparser, reducing hair growth permanently overtime.

Therefore for this tool to work, there has to be a contrast between the
color of your hair and your skin tone. Which means that this tool won't work
well for really fair skinned people with really light hair or really dark
skinned people with dark hair.

I am someone who has light skin with really dark hair, so I am considered to
be the perfect candidate for IPL.

About Rose Skin Co

I honestly didn't know much about Rose Skin co until I found an ad about them on Instagram. I usually don't pay much attention to ads on Instagram, but as someone who has been looking for a good solution to hair removal, I was intrigued. It looked super similar to multiple different popular brands of IPL, like the Kenzzi.

They sell different tools for the body and skincare. It seems like their most popular products are the Lumi and the Petal (which is a face cleansing tool).

Overview of Lumi IPL Hair Removal

The Lumi IPl comes in 2 colors, white and pink. This tool has just been updated to have two different buttons, instead of one. They have the power/intensity button, and the button you use to flash the laser. You can go on Google to see the difference between this version and the version 1.They also have a few different modes to make it easier to do areas, such as your legs. It currently goes for $189, and they always have a 10% offer if you sign up with your emails! That may sound like a lot, but if you calculate all the money you spend on razors, that adds up too!

How do I feel 2 weeks in?

As someone who hates removing hair, but also hates having prickly legs, arm pits, and bikini area I am constantly removing my hair. While I've looked into professional hair removal at a dermatologist, it took multiple sessions and was pretty expensive!

Then a few years back, one of my favorite Youtubers, Stephanie Ledda mentioned how she had great results with IPL, I started doing my research. I looked into the science behind IPL, and if it actually worked, and to make a long story short, it does.

My mom bought an IPL machine soon after that, and while I used it a bit and started to notice some results, I wasn't very consistent. Since then I mainly stuck to shaving with my Billie Razor (which I also really love , and highly recommend).

I bought this machine about a month ago, and have used it once a week at the highest intensity for the past three weeks. I have been mainly focusing on my armpits at the moment, and once the hair there has gone away (like it supposed to) I will move on to my legs.

So far while my hair is still growing, I feel like it's at a slower rate. I usually shave my armpits every day or every other day to now have prickles growing. This past week, I noticed that it took me about 3 days until I needed to shave. Even then, I probably could have lasted another day. The fact that I could go about 4 days without having to shave my armpits is really impressive!

They say you're not supposed to see the full results until week 12. As of now, I have to say that I'm really pleased with the results!

I can't wait to update you guys in about 2 and a half months. Don't forget to subscribe to my emails on my home page to remember to check back in (or if you want to stay up to date with what I post).
