melina's book club pt. 12

It's been almost two months since I've written a book post. I have read sooo many books in the last two months, and yet, it's taken me forever to write mini reviews about them! I'm here and I'm back to writing some more reviews on some of the books I've read. This time around I'm going to be doing things a little bit differently. I call this a book club, and yet, I don't give any of you guys the chance to know what I'm currently reading (in case any of you want to read a book with me at the same time). From now on, I'm going to show you a list of all the books I'm currently reading (because yes, I'm that person who reads more than one book at a time).

This story follows Blair as she is in college studying for a communications major. While there she finds out about Ty, who is a MMA fighter. The first half of the book was extremely entertaining. Blair is witty, smart, and constantly has some kind of remark (even when it's in her head).

I feel like as I got further into the book, I was disappointed by Blairs immature-ness, and the whole thing just seemed too....unbelievable? I don't think anyone would behave the way she would, and I constantly found myself judging her actions in disbelief.

I would also state that while we don't get Ty's POV, I also found him to be immature as well. It wouldn't be a problem if the story followed around 2 high school students, but these characters are supposed to be 23 & 26 years old. Nonetheless, the first half the book, was a quick read.

Once I got to the second half of the book, things continued to fall downhill. It dragged on forever, and honestly I lost interest. Instead of dealing with their conflicts like adults, they avoided talking about it directly (which in some instances, don't bother me as much as it did in this scenario).

On top of all of those issues, there were two major ones. I felt like there was little to no plot. I was reading and reading, following these character's lives, and felt like it led nowhere. Also, I felt like these character were very 2 dimensional. Neither of these characters had personalities that were unique in any way, nor did they grow as the story progressed.

Overall, I'm extremely disappointed by this book, and would not recommend it AT ALL.

the boy i hate by taylor sullivan - ★★★

the boy i hate"it was like erasing history. Laugh lines of happiness and joy or pain that shaped a person to who they were. Painting over this stuff was like sand blasting a Cathedral—criminal. "

Out of all the E-books I read this time around, this was the best one. The only one that I would recommend.

This story follows Samantha, who's been best friends with Renee since the beginning of time. Not only do they share the same interests, they also share a hatred towards the same person: Tristan, who is also Renee's older brother.

Tristan was the guy that every girl wanted, and every guy was jealous of. It was common for people to befriend Renee in order to get to her brother. Which is exactly how Renee and Samantha became best friends. Renee knew that Samantha was the only person she could trust to not fall in love with her older brother.

Flash forward and it's the week before Renee's wedding. Samantha was supposed to go to the wedding with her current boyfriend, and instead gets stuck on a road trip with none other than Tristan.

The story is told with flashbacks to understand the relationship between Tristan, Renee, and Samantha. Overall, the book was super cute. I love the buildup of seeing the relationship between the characters. You come into the book with an idea of who Tristan really is, and slowly see his character develop into something completely different.

By the end of it, you're rooting for Tristan and Samantha to just get together! It was a cute cliche, and I definitely recommend it! It's a book I would even reread when I needed a quick cute romance.

growing in love

Let's start with the greatest issue of the book. The editing! There were so many grammatical errors, it was at times, extremely hard to follow.

I think my number one pet peeve is too many grammatical errors. If I'm constantly pausing to figure out what the author is trying to say, we're off to a bad start.

So I honestly love, the whole enemies fake dating, and then fall in love trope. It's just overall super cute, usually funny, and an enjoyable read. This book did have quite a bit of potential, but I'm telling you. TOO MANY GRAMMATICAL ERRORS!

Not only that, but the characters definitely fell flat at times. There was no real description. It was overall not a great book. It did get better as the book progressed, as if the author finally got into her groove. By that point, it was honestly too late. I had already lost interest. This book gets a huge fat no in my book. Please do not waste your time reading this one.

This was such a great read! I also love how you linked the covers to the site, that was such a good touch. It's a shame that Growing in Love had so many errors, as it sounds like it has so much potential to be a great read. I love the sound of The Boy I Hate, it sounds like a great story thats easy to get in to. Thanks for sharing!xx
