BOOK REVIEW: The Burning Side by @sarahdamoff

After loving the Bright Years, I didn't think she was ever going to top it. While I didn't personally connect with the characters, in the Bright Years, I was immersed the whole time. The writing style, the story, the characters.
However, this book was everything The Bright Years was and more. The writing was still just as beautiful and the world she created felt just as real. What made this story stand out a little more to me was the fact that I just related to each of these characters on a much deeper and personal level. One of my favorite reads of 2026, and maybe of all time. Highly highly recommend! 5⭐s

BOOK REVIEW: How to Write a Love Story by @catwalshwriter

Catherine Walsh has slowly become one of my favorite romance writers. She tends to have the perfect balance of romance while delving into some more difficult deep topics.
This one had one of my favorite tropes in romance books. I love books that involve writers. So this story follows a writer and an editor, and I loved every second of it!
I do feel like the pacing for the romance was a little odd at times, and I wish it was a bit longer to fix the pacing, but omg I need to read her backlog! Also can we talk about how genuinely funny all of her characters are. I always find myself laughing out loud. Highly recommend her romance books 🤗 4.5⭐s

BOOK REVIEW: If it Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia

I have been in a really weird book slump where I struggle to stick to a book. I keep picking up a book reading a few pages, and then putting it down only to try a different book. (If you see me add 10 new books to my currently reading on Fable, no you don't)

A few months ago I read this, and I was pleasantly surprised. So many people who've rated this highly compared it to Gilmore girls, but I dont really relate to that comparison. I think this book gave me a 90's romance. Not because of when the book takes place, but more so of the style of romance at the time.
They a but corny, a bit predictable, not that heavy on the comedy (which I think is more 2000's & 2010's style), and lots of small romantic gestures to show you that the characters really saw one another. Of course it would not be a 90's romance without one grand gesture.
This book had all the above. It was based in a small town and was so heartwarming. I didn't think I was going to enjoy it as much as I did, especially when I saw how long it was. But I recommend! 4.25 ⭐s

BOOK REVIEW: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I'm always on the lookout for a great fantasy series, and after reading the first book in the series, it has a lot of potential! A lot of people compare this series to Throne of Glass, and I honestly don't see the similarities (at least not yet). The world's are completely different, but I enjoyed both of them equally.

This book is a YA fantasy, so take that into consideration when reading. While I'm not the biggest fan of love triangles, I loved the world building, unique magic, and the POVs of both characters. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book in the series. 3.75 ⭐s
