2019 bullet journal setup.

I know I'm super late in creating this post, but I felt like better late than never! I've written a bullet journal setup since I first started in 2017. I definitely didn't know what I was doing then or what would work for me best, but now I definitely know much more about i!

I wrote a lil' blurb about bullet journaling, what it was, how it could be useful for you, in this post. If you want more information than I gave in that post, you can always go onto YouTube, and search what is a bullet journal or bullet journal setupYou can also check out the official bullet journal website here.

There are a lot of things that are in the traditional bullet journal that I don't implement into my own, because it just doesn't work for me, but it's worth checking out and seeing if it might work better for you! At the end of the day, the point of the bullet journal is to help organize your thoughts and your overall life. There is truly no right or wrong answer.

If you want to check out last year's bullet journal set-up, you can check it out here. Today I'm going to set it up a little differently than I have the past two years. I'm going to break it down into New Year's Inspired posts and 2019 posts. I think they're both kind of nice to have when you set up a new bullet journal, and who knows, maybe there's a spread you want to add to your bullet journal! So, let's get right into it.

the notebook itself.

IMG_3835.jpg

In a typical bullet journal people use a grid or dotted style of paper. It doesn't really matter what size of notebook you use, but the typical is 8in x 5in. Last year I used a smaller notebook, because I ordered the wrong size online. I find that I write too big to use a notebook of that size, so I went back to the traditional size.

For 2017 & 2018 I used a Muji dotted notebook with a clear plastic cover in the front. This year I decided to switch it up, and get a black faux leather dotted notebook from amazon (US: here / UK: here).

IMG_3836.jpg

I actually really like this notebook. It looks well made, and has that nice simplistic look as well. When you open up the cover it has a "in case of lost, please return to..." section, which I really liked, as my old ones didn't have that. On the left had side of the cover, I actually put a quote that I've used for the past two years on my old bullet journals. I don't know why, but this quote really speaks to me, and I thought I would keep my tradition and add it to this one as well.

index.IMG_3837.jpg

The next section in my bullet journal, which I actually took from the original bullet journal method is the index. The index is supposed to have all the spreads you make throughout the year. On the left hand column is the page number the spread is on and the right column is the name of the spread itself.

My bullet journal didn't have page numbers, but neither did my older ones, so it didn't bother me. This year, instead of writing the page numbers on every page, I decided to write the page number every 5 pages. This makes it easy to figure out what page I'm actually on, without taking as much time to write out all the page numbers (there are 190 pages in this bullet journal, so that would seriously suck).

social media stats.

IMG_3838.jpg

I really liked having this spread in last year's notebook, so I decided to keep it. I like to keep track of my blog, Twitter, YouTube, Pintrest, & Instagram. Sometimes it's hard to not notice how much your social media stats are increasing, so this spread makes it much easier to keep track of it.

If you're a blogger or some other kind of content creator, I recommend you create something similar to this!

year at a glance 2019.

IMG_3839.jpg

I created this spread, where I keep track of birthdays & vacations. I also really like looking at my year a glance sometimes, so this is super helpful for me!

birthdays.

IMG_3840.jpg

I wrote down the birthdays of the most important people in my life. It's helpful if you're forgetful like me! In yours, you can write down other important events if you need to.

future plans.

IMG_3841.jpg

This is to keep track of future plans, like dates with friends, birthdays, vacations. In a bullet journal, it's not like a planner where everything is already pre-written out, and so having a future plans section is really important, especially if you have to plans things wayy in advance.

I kept the layout very similar to last year, but I think I already know how I want to change it for next year!

positive affirmations 2019.

IMG_3842.jpg

I've done this for 2018 as well, and I love it. Believe it or not, positive affirmations work. Sometimes when you need a pick me up, having a mantra that you can repeat to yourself, it can help you get out of your own head. Here are a list of my affirmations for the year.

workout overview.

IMG_3843.jpg

I created a spread like this last year, and I really liked being able to keep track of the days I worked out. The way this spread works, is that I have all 31 possible days along the top. Then on the side, I have all the months of the year. Whenever I do go to work out, I put a dot on the correct day of the month. At the end of the year, you have a whole bunch of dots to tell you how many days you've worked out.

Last year I worked out an average of 4-6 times a month. This year, I made it a goal of mine to beat that (I haven't worked out any days this month, so I'm off to a great start!).

new year's resolutions.

IMG_3845.jpg

While I didn't make a post on new year's resolutions, I did make a bullet journal spread for it. I did a really good job at working towards them last year, by creating monthly goals. This is a good way to keep track of what you want to achieve this year. Mine have stuff like saving money, making more money off my blog compared to last year, travel to more than 3 locations this year, and read over 75 books.

2019 manifestation board.

IMG_3847.jpg

I'm really into the law of attraction, and while I already created my vision board for the year, it's nice to have a lil' reminder of what you want to manifest into your life.

As you can see, I didn't fill this one out yet, but I'm going to get it done before the month ends!

looking back at 2019.

IMG_3848.jpg

This was a cool spread, I found on Pintrest. So not only is it star themed (also into astrology, so this was super cool to me), but at the same time it's really good to be able to see all that you have accomplished throughout the year. This spread separates your accomplishments, by "grateful for", "trips", "new things", "lessons learned", "accomplishments", and "memories".

I also left a second spread on the back open just in case I fill this one up, like I said I write super big.

tv show guide.

while this isn't necessary for your bullet journal setup. There are certain streaming sites that doesn't allow you to make multiple accounts, so if everyone in my family is watching the same show (like Game of Thrones or Marvelous Miss Maisel), sometimes it's hard to figure out which episode I'm on. This is an easy way to keep track of it!

so these are all the spreads I created for my brand new bullet journal! Do you own a bullet journal? If not, are you thinking of creating one this year? If you do, what kinds of spreads do you add for your new year? Let me know! As always, thank you for reading. It means the world to me. Have a wonderful day/night. Sending you love, strength, and positivity.

I love your bullet journal spreads! I don't think I have the patience to keep up with a bullet journal but I admire anyone who has time to make the spreads and follow them all year! I hope you have a fabulous year to look back on in that journal!

Thank you! They're not as difficult or complicated to keep up with as most people would think (well as long as they're minimalistic and simplistic as the ones I make). Thanks so much for reading and commenting Cleia 🙂 xx

Maybe I'll try it eventually, but I would need to keep it super simple! For now I'll ooh and aah over everyone else's bullet journal spreads.

I think the first post I ever read of yours was how to create a bullet journal. And I remember thinking wow, that looks so cool! I'd never even heard of one before. You have made your's look so pretty and organised. I know I am looking at it and thinking I wish I had one, but I also know I'm like the messiest person in the world and I'll end up going off track.
But I can look at your's and live my bullet journal dreams through you. It looks awesome! xxx

That's so funny! I had no idea, but I'm so pleased to hear that! I don't think I'm a very organized person, but I think I try to be with my bullet journal. It allows me to free my thoughts and get more creative.
You can always try it out and see what you come up with, who knows! You might surprise yourself and find out that you end up liking it and keep up with it!
Even if you don't end up trying it out, I do appreciate you reading these posts anyway!
