my skincare routine | 2019

In the last few months, I've tried to do a better job at taking care of my skin. I used to be the person who always  fell asleep with her makeup on, and just didn't really care about my skin too much. A lot has changed since. It does help that my sister is obsessed with skincare. If you're curious to find out what I used to use on my skin, you can check out my skincare routine from 2016 and from last year.

Now into the real post! I would first like to mention the fact that I have extremely dry and sensitive skin. If you have oily or combination skin, you might find that these products don't work well for you.

There are some products that I still use that I've talked about in the last few years, so let's start with those.

Mario Badescue Vitamin C Serum

I've have been using this since last year, and I think the more I use it, the more I like it. The serum feels extremely oily, so with a lightweight moisturizer it feels much better. After using this serum, your skin will feel amazing. The bottle has lasted me a long time (even though I don't use this serum everyday. I like to mix and match my serums. One day I like to use a vitamin C serum and one day I'll use the vitamin E one from the Body Shop).

I don't know if I would repurchase it after I'm done with it, mainly because I want to try the fourth ray beauty Vitamin C serum next, which is less expensive than this bottle is. Nonetheless, it does my skin wonders, and I still really enjoy this one, which is exactly why I've been using it since last year's skincare routine post!

Mario Badescue Rose Water Spray

Now this is a product that I've been using for YEARS. I've been talking about it since my 2016 skincare post! This is a hydrating spray that I use on my face either when I'm about to go out and I have a matte look on my face, when I need a hydrating boost for my skin, or after my night time skincare routine!

I honestly love this spray so much! It smells like roses, which I know some people really don't like, it's extremely lightweight, and it's super refreshing. The bottles last me a long time, and they're pretty inexpensive, especially if you get the double jumbo bottles on Hautelook when they're on sale!

My best friend, Christina, actually bought me another bottle for my birthday, which was perfect because I was running low. This is a product that I've bought dozens of bottles throughout the years, and will continue to do so.

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Hydro Gel

This is another repeat from last year. I actually finished the glass jar, and purchased another one during May's VIB sale at Sephora! The funny thing is, since I'm trying to finish some other moisturizer, I haven't opened this one yet.

I love this one, because it's super lightweight, yet extremely moisturizing. I would use this at night or even under my makeup and it would do wonders for my skin! This is a product I would continue to repurchase, and completely recommend.

Garnier Micellar Water

Since trying this micellar water, I have tried a few other brands of it, and none of them work as well as this one. This was is extremely lightweight, and yet still takes off makeup well! I've tried micellar waters that just feel like plain water on your face. This one is totally worth the price. I have used at least 4 of these bottles in the last year, and will continue to buy some more into next year. I still use this product and recommend it.

Ole Henrickson Truth Serum

I don't know how many times I've mentioned this serum. This is my second giant bottle of this serum, and I still love it. For those of you that don't know, this is probably one of my favorite serums of all time. It slicks on kind of like a gel instead of an oil. It's super lightweight and the skin absorbs it extremely quickly. It's supposed to be a vitamin C serum, and smells kind of like sweet oranges. I'm using up it's last few drops, which is super upsetting, but it gives me the chance to use up some of my other skincare products, which is good.

As of now, I don't know if I'm going to repurchase this product again, mainly for the fact that I want to try out the Fourth Ray Beauty Vitamin C Serum. I don't know if I'm going to like it better, but for the price difference I would be super happy if I do! I still recommend this product, but keep your eyes out for my fourth ray beauty vitamin c serum review!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Serum

This was a product I didn't purchase myself. My sister bought it for herself, and she said it was too hydrating for her skin and gave it to me. I LOVE this serum so much. It smells like baby, makes my skin extremely soft, and even gets rid of some of the redness on my cheeks!

I'm still finishing up this first bottle and I still have a little less than half left, but I love it. While it is extremely hydrating, I do not find it overly hydrating for my skin. It does not give me pimples or anything of the sort. I will definitely repurchase another one of these bottles once I'm done with it!

Peter Thomas Roth Peeling Gel Exfoliant

This was actually gifted to me a while back, and while I loved it then, I still love it now. It's a chemical exfoliant, which I use weekly. It's extremely good for my sensitive skin and gets rid of all the dead skin.

I'm at the very bottom of this tube, and at the moment will not repurchase mainly because I bought the Fresh Strawberry exfoliant to give it a try and compare between a natural exfoliant and the chemical peel i'm currently using. I still really recommend this product!

Fourth Ray Beauty BDF Cleansing oil

This is a product I bought a few months back in a set, and I love them both. Fourth Ray beauty had just started selling some of their products, and they only had these two cleansing products. I ended up getting the bundle so I can try both of them.

This oil is actually pretty great. It smells kind of minty and if you have a lot of makeup on, this melts it right off. If you don't have any makeup on, I use this cleansing oil alone to cleanse my skin in a none harsh way.

This is a product I would definitely repurchase the moment I run out of it, and recommend to all! It's meant for all skin types and is super inexpensive! Not only that, but it is vegan and cruelty free (as are all products by Fourth Ray Beauty)!

Fourth Ray Beauty AM to PM Gel Cleanser

This was the only cleanser that they had, and they said it was meant for all skin types. I really like the smell and gel of it. It doesn't really lather up, which doesn't bother me, and isn't overly drying. I still feel like it sometimes dries my skin up, and therefore I would try their other milky cleanser next time around.

I still want to finish the bit of cleanser I have left, especially because with the heat of the summer, I feel like this cleanser isn't trying up my skin badly right now. If you have dry (not extremely dry like mine), oily, or normal skin, I feel like this cleanser would be perfect for you. It's extremely inexpensive and works great!

Cera Ve Daily Moisturizer

Finally this isn't a new product, but a product I have never mentioned in my other skincare posts. I've been using this product since I was in high school. I had super dry skin, and didn't know what to do with it. I kept exfoliating the dry skin off, and it kept coming back!

A co-worker of mine told me that her son suffered with dry skin and used this product, and omg did it work wonders. It was super cheap and came in this gigantic bottle. I loved it. I think in all the years that have passed, I've only gotten through 2 bottles of these. I'm currently at the bottom of my 3rd, and I love it just as much as I did back in high school.

If you're looking for an affordable moisturizer, I recommend this one. It's extremely lightweight, makes your skin look amazing, never has given me pimples or irritation, and it lasts foreverr.

I'm loving vitamin C products right now too! I didn't know that Mario Badescu had one, I'll have to see if I can find it at Anthropologie! I'm using the Fourth Ray Beauty one right now and unfortunately it hasn't been working for me nearly as well as the pixi serum. The Ole Henricksen Truth Serum is on my To-Try list too.

When I run out of moisturizer I should try that Cera Ve one! It sounds perfect for dry skin types.

I'm happy your skincare routine is working for you right now!

I'm definitely going to have to try the pixi one! You've loved it so much, and since our skin types are so similar, it might work for me too! Thanks so much for reading and commenting xxx

The one thing I should mention is that some of their line does oxidize. I noticed about a month ago that my vitamin C tonic completely oxidized and was useless, and the serum slowly starts to oxidize over time too. If you're using it exclusively I think it's possible to use them up quick enough!

That's good to know. Since I'm still currently going through some products, I definitely can't buy any of these products either! Thanks for mentioning that 🙂 xx
