Why You Should Travel More in the Next 12 Months!

[contributed post] Can you believe that there’s only a few days til Christmas!? Honestly, where did the time go? Not only that, but in the next week or so we start a brand new year! When a new year comes around, we all start to think about what we want to achieve. What we want to do? How we want to feel? Thinking about all of these things can get more than a little overwhelming.

We usually add a crazy amount of things to our New Year's Resolutions lists. We say we want to save $10,000 or travel to a specific location, but we don't give ourselves mini goals to reach our ultimate yearly goals. Too much change at once can be tough! So if we're trying to reach this goal, but then not taking the proper steps to actually achieve it, it's super hard to achieve them. Then we feel like we're not good enough or that we're failure because we didn't come close to reaching our goals. The problem is that we are good enough. We are perfect just the way we are, and instead of trying to change every aspect of ourselves, we need to start making changes to our lives and surroundings!

Looking at your current life, what do you want to change? Do you feel like you're actually living, or do you feel like you're just going with the motions? If you feel the latter, you have to make sure that you spend the next twelve months really living. Do all of the things that you’ve always wanted to do. Or, that you at least start to. You only live once, so you want to make sure that you achieve everything you want to, and actually start living.

Now, for a lot of people (including myself), one of those things people want to achieve is to start traveling or to travel more in general. And if it’s not, it honestly should be. We live on such a beautiful planet, it’s definitely important for you to be able to explore it while we're alive. To help you start thinking about what to add to your future new years resolutions, let’s me give you some reasons you should look to travel more and how you can do it!

It’s Good For Your Soul

This one might be obvious, but traveling is good for your soul. It just is. It’s one of those things that you get to do, that allows you to feel revitalized and excited about life. Yes, you spend money, but you also get a whole bunch of things in return. You feel different, your mind is fresher, and you get to come back to your everyday life feeling super energized!

It Allows You To Disconnect

I actually spoke about this recently in one of my posts about disconnecting. When I travel, I feel like it allows you to switch off from the world. We all tend to get too caught up in the online world, in our devices.  Nowadays we scroll like never before. And honestly so exhausting. If you're travelling, you’re going to have less time to be so ‘on’ because you’re exploring and enjoying and relaxing a lot more!

It Broadens Your Horizons

Something else that we all know is great about travel, is that it really does broaden your horizons. Even though you've never thought about going to somewhere like Shah Alam or Koh Samui before (for those of you that don't know, one of them is a city in Malaysia and the other is an island owned by Thailand!), but then you actually get to go out there and experience it, then you will find that you take in a whole new perspective about life and the world. You get to see a different way of living, and it’s such a beautiful thing to be able to experience.

It Changes The Pace

Something else that travel actually does for you, and a huge reason for why you need to ensure that you do travel more, is that is forces you to slow down. Yes, some days are busy with flights and exploring, but all in all, it changes the pace of your life. And it allows you to put a lot of different things into perspective too. This is something that is super important for you to be able to do for yourself.

You Meet New People

Another reason is because travel allows you to get out there and meet new people! It's honestly so nice finding like-minded people who share the same passion and interest in travel. Even if you’re shy and you worry about meeting new people (like I do), at the end of the day, when you put yourself out there and try to get to know new people, it always ends up worth it, and makes the trip even more memorable! You never know who you might get into conversation with, and what kind of experiences or opportunities might come from it!

You Try New Things

You’ll find that you’re more inclined to try new things too. That’s just what the travel bug does to you! From trying out new food to experiencing new ways to travel and even trying activities that you never thought you would. Travel is such a great way to get you out of your comfort zone!

It Gives You Something To Look Forward To

This one is a big one for me! After booking that trip, you give yourself something to look forward to. When you have a vacation booked, you create countdowns, you plan things in between to make the time pass quicker, and you just feel in better spirits knowing that there's something amazing sometime in the near future! Think about planning something for a few months from now, and it will keep you happy and motivated!

You Can Learn Something

This might be another obvious one, but you actually get to learn a lot when you travel! You learn about different cultures, people, foods, traditions, and if you're into history, you learn a lot about the history of the area!  You’ll learn a lot about life too, and not just get a new perspective. No matter who you are or where you’re from, there’s always something that you can learn from traveling.

You Get Out Of Your Bubble

It’s just too easy to spend our lives living in our heads. The worst part is that it isn't something that ever really helps. We are too busy thinking and not doing, but when we travel it's not like that. You actually get out there and do things. You explore. And you have little to no time to be in your head.

Last but not least...

It’s always best to spend your money on experiences rather than things. Material objects only build up.  Once you have the item you want, it will bring you happiness temporarily, until you want something else. When you spend your money on travel, you make memories that last a lifetime. It creates memories that will make you happy to look back on for the rest of your life.

You Meet New People

Another reason is because RV Camping Southern California allows you to get out there and meet new people! It’s honestly so nice finding like-minded people who share the same passion and interest in travel. Even if you’re shy and you worry about meeting new people (like I do), at the end of the day, when you put yourself out there and try to get to know new people, it always ends up worth it, and makes the trip even more memorable! You never know who you might get into conversation with, and what kind of experiences or opportunities might come from it!

You Get Inspired

One of the less tangible, yet profoundly impactful benefits of travel is the wave of inspiration it brings. Imagine wandering the narrow alleys of an ancient city or immersing yourself in a bustling local market, and suddenly, an idea strike. For entrepreneurs and creatives, like software developer Alex Graveley, these moments can spark innovations that refine industries. Travel not only exposes you to diverse cultures and ways of life, but it also challenges your perspective and disrupts your routine, creating the perfect breeding ground for fresh thoughts. For those battling with stagnation or trying to break a detrimental habit, these newfound inspirations can be the catalyst for transformative personal growth.

When you think about everything I've talked about, you realize that you get SO much more out of travelling when compared to buying material objects. I might be super bold, and say that traveling is one of the best investments you can make in life. And if life, we all want to make great investments, right (insert a lil' wink wink right here)?

We live in such a big and beautiful world. Don’t you want to try and explore it? Even if you feel like travel has never really been a part of your life before, if definitely can be. Definitely take some time to think about how you can try to incorporate starting to travel or adding more travel into your life in the next year!

As always, thank you for reading! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas! I'm sorry to announce that I will not be posting next Tuesday, but I'll be back next Wednesday. Sending you love, strength, and positivity!

I would love to travel some more this year. With us buying a house it probably won't happen, or at least we won't be hopping on any planes. But we hope to do some camping, which is relatively inexpensive because we can drive through the mountains.
I asked Mike to take me to Italy for my 28th Birthday which will be in 2020, so I hope we're able to go!

I hope so once we're all settled! We're still fighting with the bank about our mortgage agreement, they're dragging out the process for no reason. We just want to get it locked in so we know that house will be ours in March... 🙁
I'm looking forward to a quiet year settled in our new home!
