What Self-Care Looks Like For Me.

During the winter months, it's easy to get into a funk. This is the time when you can get sucked into the same routine of work/school and then going back home. These winter months seem like the perfect time to hibernate. All you want to do is snuggle in your sheets and watch a good TV show or movie.

While those things are good to do once in a while, it might not be the best thing for your mental health. There are a few things I do to take care of myself physically and mentally, and prevent me from getting into a winter funk.

Above all else, the first thing that helps is keeping up with hygiene. This means washing your face and taking a bath or a shower. If you're feeling extra motivated, I would suggest you put on a face mask! Face masks have been a huge trend in the last few months, and I can totally see why! They make your skin feel amazing afterwards. It's the perfect thing to hydrate your skin during the cold weather. Taking care of your body makes you feel energized and rejuvenated. In my case, it also helps to calm me down.

The second thing I like to do is listen to music. I feel like music is the cure for everything. When I can't sleep, I put music on. When I'm getting ready to go out, I like to play music. As long as you're listening to music that you enjoy, it can make a huge difference in your life.

The next thing that's super important in my life is books. I have always had a love for reading. While I don't have as much time throughout the school semester to read, I still always try to make time, because it de-stresses me. While some people get tired from reading, it gives my mind a break from reality. Reading is my mental escape. I think that if you're a person who doesn't like reading, you just haven't found the right book for you. I would suggest you keep looking!

A recent thing that I've really been enjoying is incenses. I usually never use them cause I'm really sensitive to scents and they tend to give me headaches, but my friend Jill got me some for Christmas. The best thing about them is that I can use them and I get no side effects! They really calm me down for some reason, and they smell so good.

There are two more things that I do for myself. I like to play video games and watch some of my favorite shows. They just calm me down so much, and get me out of my head. When it comes to video games I usually play some games I have for my Xbox One. Then there's always great TV shows to watch. Right now, I'm watching Scrubs, Skin Wars, Bob's Burgers, and Black Mirror. If you're looking for something new to watch, I would recommend you checking one of those shows out!

These are just some of the things I do in order to take care of myself. I hope this helps you guys! Leave me a comment of what you guys like to do in order to take care of yourselves!

Have a nice day/night!

It's amazing how much we take self-care for granted. I've only started looking after myself a bit more this year! and I'm glad I've made changes x

I love wearing face masks, drinking got tea (or wine), and just letting my thoughts pour into a notebook. Great tips for relaxation!
