things you can do to be more environmentally friendly | pt. 2

Hey guys, I'm back with another environmental post! The first one did so well, that I thought I'd some back and write 5 more tips on how you can be more environmentally friendly. Remember, every little bit helps! I love learning new ways to make a difference on the planet. Not only that, but I love sharing it with you all. So let's get right into my environmentally friendly tips!

Switch to Toothpaste Pellets

About 900 Million tubes of toothpaste are used every year in the United States. That's ALOT. Originally I switched to Burt's Bees toothpaste, because they show you how to fully recycle them. Even then, it can completely be avoidable if you switch to pellets.

The one brand that I've been looking into is Bite Toothpaste pellets. You can get a 4 month supply for $30. It comes with two pellets a day for 31 days. It also comes with a glass jar, but only for the first time you subscribe. After that they send you refillable packets.

I've also considering getting the Tablets from Lush, but not only are they more expensive they also come in a plastic bottle, which is isn't as good as using a single glass jar. The moment I finish my current toothpaste from Burt's Bees, I'm going to switch to the Bite Toothpaste! It's especially cool because you make sure you're not putting too much toothpaste on your toothbrush.

Try using Mouthwash Pellets

Just like toothpaste pellets, they have mouthwash tablets! It's basically dehydrated mouthwash, so you take the tablet out of the glass jar, and put it into a little bit of water. You use it like you normally would use regular mouthwash. Not only are you saving space in your home, since regular mouthwash can take up a lot of space in your bathroom, but you're reducing that amount of plastic you use! I thought it's also a good way to make sure you're not using to much product in one sitting.

Some of the popular brands that I came across are the ones by Humankind, Georganics, Lush, & Package Free!

Invest in Environmentally Friendly Period Alternatives

I've been doing a lot of research on alternatives to using regular tampons & pads. I'm not much of a tampon user, specially since they just make me extremely bloated and feel uncomfortable. But I've been trying to reduce my waste, by looking for alternatives to pads! There were two alternatives that I came up with. They have the menstrual cup & the period underwear.

The menstrual cup has two famous brands that I have heard of. The Diva Cup and the Saalt Cup. They're made out of a soft silicon, and basically goes into your body like a tampon. I have heard that there's a bit of a learning curve to using these, but once you learn how to use them, it changes your life! Samantha Ravndahl & RawBeautyKristi made super informational videos on their experience with menstrual cups. Samantha Ravndahl continued to make another video actually comparing the Diva cup and the Saalt Cup! It's definitely a great alternative, so do your own research if you're interested in it!

The second alternative, which is the one I was considering getting is the period underwear. This is the eco-friendly version of using pads. I've always felt like using pads kind of feels like wearing diapers, so when Chloe from the Little Plum mentioned this alternative, I was definitely interested.

ModiBodi has 4 variations of the period pants, and you can choose what suits your life best according to flow and other aspects. While they aren't cheap, they're supposed to last you from 6 months all the way up to 2 years, depending on how well you take care of them. In the reviews, there are some people that have had theirs for over 2 years!

In her review, she states that even on days she has extremely heavy flow, she had no leakage! While these are a more pricey alternative out of the two, this is the one that I'm personally getting in the future.

So these are are a few more tips I've been using to reduce waste in my life! What have you been doing? Let me know in the comments down below! I hope you have a wonderful day/night. Sending you love, strength, and positivity.
