In reply to <a href="https://www.melinaelisa.com/melinas-book-club-pt-8/#comment-2571">writingthebluesaway</a>.

I agree, the writing style wasn't really my taste, there were a lot of weird metaphors and those fairy tales were definitely not for me. Towards the end of the book, I actually skipped a few of them!
Nonetheless I thought the plot was so different and enjoyable, that I still rated it as well as I did. I wanted to keep reading, and finding out more. Like you said, since you read it for school, it might have made even less enjoyable because you had to dissect it, instead of thoroughly enjoy it.
There are definitely some elements of ATBILB and walk of shame. They're both really cute! (I'm also comparing it to the movie, cause I haven't read the book yet). Thanks so much for reading and commenting :) xx

I had to read We Were Liars for university and I have to say I didn’t enjoy it that much; it’s definitely worth a read because of how different it is and the plot twists, but the writing style really didn’t work for me. However that may be because I was obligated to read it and study it! I’m intrigued by The Way to Game the Walk of Shame because it sounds like To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, and I really enjoyed that film (also want to get round to reading that!)

I LOVE the sound of We Were Liars! It's such a shame you weren't a huge fan of the writing style but I'm still super intrigued by the plot, I've never read a book like that! It's definitely one I'm going to be keeping an eye out for when adding to my TBR list. The Way To Game The Walk Of Shame sounds quite familiar but I don't think I've read it, I do love stories set in high school as I'm still a kid on the inside!
